The 2019 annual Hebden Bridge Handmade Parade had the theme ‘Once upon a time’. The parade was based on European myth, legends and design, and told the story of a journey through the ancient forests of Europe.
As part of the celebrations to commemorate David Hockney’s 80th birthday, a fabulous bespectacled parade took place at Lister Park to also help celebrate the opening of the David Hockney Gallery at Cartwright Hall. Photos by Ian Hodgson.
The Extraordinary Orchard Park Parade and mini parade was the culmination of several months work.
In 2016 we went global with a month-long residency in South Korea. Handmade Parade artists Andrew Kim and Sue Walpole as creative directors worked closely with South Korean Artists Eum Jeong Ae and Kim Jiwoong along with a wonderful team of assistant artists and volunteers. In celebration of the Tour de France in Yorkshire, the Fantastical Cycle Parade was a glorious ride through the streets of Todmorden with bicycles, tricycles, scooters, prams and wheelchairs transformed into all manner of strange and wonderful creatures, bugs and beasts.
