Want to learn about puppeteering from our favourit Want to learn about puppeteering from our favourite international expert? This is your lucky day, cos we’re offering FREE TRAINING! If you live in Calderdale and are available to volunteer as a puppeteer on Sun 22nd June at the HEBDEN Bridge Handmade Parade, then book your place quickly! On Monday 2nd June from 10am-4pm at our Hebden Bridge workshop, Andrew Kim @thingumatheatre will teach you all the basics about working with big parade-style puppets. You will try different styles of puppets and discover how to bring these to life. This is a rare opportunity to get hands-on experience with a performance expert, so grab it fast by emailing volunteer@handmadeproductions.org.uk to book your place.

In just three “Making it Together” sessions with @govi.asano they’ve created this beautiful set of bee lanterns. We LOVE them, they’re absolutely beautiful. But even better than that, they’ve been made with real care and attention to detail and are built to last. They’ll make a debut flight at the Hebden Bridge Handmade Parade and then keep on buzzing through many future parades. We’re so chuffed. THANK YOU EVERYONE!❤️

Saturday 7 June 10.30am–1pm AND 3–5.30pm Sunday 8 June 10.30am–1pm AND 3–5.30pm Saturday 14 June 10.30am–1pm AND 3–5.30pm Sunday 15 June 10.30am–1pm AND 3–5.30pm Then parade with us on SUN 22 JUNE Our regulars will know that you’ll probably need at least two sessions to make a spectacular costume from scratch. If you’ve not been before, then you’re in for a treat. The workshops are filled with inspiration, and all the materials and equipment you’ll need to make yourself look amazing on parade day. We’ll have a team of artists ready to help you get creative, whether you’re a complete newbie or a professional artist. Expect the sessions to be BUSY and probably very silly. The workshops are open to anyone - there will be families, individual adults, groups of friends - all will be welcome and very quickly become part of the Handmade Tribe. We want to keep these sessions accessible to all, so if you can’t afford to pay, please come anyway. If you’re able to chip in, then £5/person will cover the costs of materials on your first session, then any extra visits are £1/session.

Do something amazing … walk on stilts and perfor Do something amazing … walk on stilts and perform at the Hebden Bridge Handmade Parade. All sessions 5.30–7.30pm at the Handmade Productions workshop. Our experienced teachers Jess and Rowan are DBS checked and have taught many young people to stilt walk. We are running workshops both for complete beginners (aged 10+) and experienced stilt-walkers: Wednesday 11 June, 5.30–7.30pm (beginners only) Saturday 14 June, 5.30–7.30pm (beginners only) Monday 16 June, 5.30–7.30pm (beginners and improvers) Wednesday 18 June, 5.30–7.30pm (beginners and improvers) Saturday 21 June, 5.30–7.30pm (beginners and improvers) Sunday 22 June, parade day performance: arrival 10.30am for parade at 12 noon. Lovely MAKING IT TOGETHER session last night. We’ve made a great start on some new bees for the parade. Thanks very much to our fab volunteers! If you’d like join in with the making, it’s not too late to book a place. We’ll be making new props for the summer parade, using lantern-making techniques and working with withies and tissue. There are two sets of these, the first sessions are in May, on Tuesday evenings at the Handmade Productions workshop in Hebden Bridge: Tuesday 13th May 6-8:30pm Tuesday 20th May 6-8:30pm The next group of three are in June: Wednesday 4th June 6-8:30pm Wednesday 11th June 6-8:30pm Wednesday 18th June 6-8.30pm It’s ESSENTIAL to book these free sessions - please email Lisa at volunteer@handmadeproductions.org.uk Spaces are limited so please only book if you are committed to attending.
